Three Weeks of Thoughts
The first two weeks of the New England Golf Challenge were kind of crazy, maybe a few too many voices in my head and too many things trying to be fixed at one time. Now that things have settled a bit I'm starting to see the path to a better, more consistent golf swing.
On the path I see equipment upgrades, aching muscles, and tempered expectations.
Reigning in expectations will be particularly difficult for someone as impatient as I am. I target what I'm told to work on, I work on it and I expect immediate results. Days like last Wednesday with Jeff at Elite don't do much to temper my expectations, only inflate them. I'm starting to understand it's a three steps forward, two step back process.
Before my meeting with Steve Riggs yesterday at the Golf Dome I went through half a large bucket trying to hit one solid wedge the way I was piping my 5 iron on Wednesday!
That's where the ability to qualify success is important. By the time the weather breaks I will have had at least five weeks of lessons and will fully expect to flirt with my career low round, even though it's crazy to expect to go low in February. The round of 2010 will focus on getting off the tee and not losing balls. Once I've shown the ability to do that, I'll focus on scoring. Someone please remind me I wrote this when I'm talking to myself after my first round.
I'm back at Golftec this week so expect swing videos and hopefully some launch monitor data. Coming up in the weeks ahead will be a golf specific workout regimen, equipment updates, and more collaborations with Steve Riggs.
