The TOUR heads to the desert this week for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and as always the par 3 16th hole will be the showcase. It’s always fun to see how players react to the thousands of boisterous fans that surround the hole in a stadium fashion. Scores are typically low at TPC Scottsdale where the course is set up for players to be aggressive. Last year Mark Wilson picked up his second win of the early season, in a playoff over Jason “Check his pulse” Dufner. Wilson already has a win this season at the Humana just two weeks ago. Can he do something similar this year?

The Picks

A Group - I gambled and lost with Mickelson last week, as I’m sure many people did. I won’t be making that mistake again this week, so I’m sure he’ll go and play lights out. Instead I’m starting my New England homey Keegan Bradley. He’s having a great sophomore season so far with top 25s in all three of his events this year. Backing him up will be Webb Simpson, who we’re all waiting for to catch fire. He shared eighth place here a year ago and is due to return to form.

B Group – Bill Haas seems to be the common choice here and I’m not going to argue that. Haas is picking up right where he left off last year. I’m just trying to be careful to reserve starts for him later this season. He’s coming off of a strong T4 finish last week at Torrey. Rickie Fowler also gets the nod to start here. In the only two times he’s played this event he’s finished 2nd and T13 respectively. Fowler also went low last year with a Friday 62 which was the low round for the field that week.

C GroupMy play with rookie Bud Cauley last week served me well. The kid continues to impress, but this week I’m going with a bit more experience, starting Jason Dufner who lost here in a playoff last year to Mark Wilson. Martin Laird, who is having a great year and finished in solo 3rd here last year, will be on reserve. Laird also lit up TPC Scottsdale on the weekend last year going 64-65.

Starting Foursome: Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler, Bill Haas, Jason Dufner
On the Bench: Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Mark Wilson, Martin Laird
