Fantasy Golf Picks for The Farmers Insurance Open

Posted in Palopoli's Picks - Fantasy Golf by on January 26th, 2011

The waiting is finally over. Tiger Woods makes his 2011 debut this week at a course he absolutely owns, winning his last five appearances at Torrey Pines. Much anticipation this week from everyone to see Tiger and his new swing in full effect. I have a feeling he won’t disappoint.

I’m kicking myself because last week I was all about to click the mouse and pick Jhonatton Vegas, but decided against it. Bad move huh? This week there’s no way you can go wrong with picking Tiger Woods as your A list player. He’s the King of Torrey, end of story. I think he’s anxious to show off the new swing and all eyes will be on him, but what else is new? No way I’m touching Phil yet, especially after a disappointing showing in Abu Dhabi. Instead I’ll have Dustin Johnson riding the bench, but with Tiger starting, I don’t anticipate having to even use him.

Ben Crane gets the nod as the returning champion from last year, and for his solid year last year where he is really starting to show what kind of player he is and can be. Rickie Fowler is also making his first appearance of the year. He took a little while to get going last year, but I don’t anticipate that now. He seems much more comfortable out there and is riding high with a lot of confidence from last year and the Ryder Cup. I have Kevin Na on the pine for now, but so far in 9 competitive rounds this year he hasn’t shot over 70 yet.

We’re all hoping that Anthony Kim is back, and his game is showing signs of turning around. I also like David Duval who is coming off a great week at the Hope where he shot all 5 rounds in the 60′s.
