The TOUR finishes up it’s Texas two-step this week with the HP Byron Nelson Championship, and then it’s on to “Jack’s Tournament” at the Memorial. Last year Jason Day captured his first win at the Byron and ever since has become one of the games top young players. He’s having a terrific year thus far, but can the Aussie and now Texas resident repeat this week? Also in the field is teenager Jordan Spieth, who was a major newsmaker here last year when the then 16 year old placed 16th.
The Picks
Big week for me at Colonial, as I picked my fourth winner of the season. Thank you David Toms! The field this week is a bit light, but there are still a few headliners to choose from. However, some of those headliners aren’t exactly in top form. For me, that’s Dustin Johnson. I’d love to go with him, and his length is certainly an advantage on this course, but he hasn’t done much so far besides the runner-up at the WGC. Instead I’ll go with Nick Watney to start, who’s certainly no slouch in the length department. Backing him up I’ll go with Sabbo again, who had it rolling last week until the weekend, but still finished with a solid 16th place.
Looking at the B group, I’m still waiting for “Boom Baby” Jeff Overton to break out. A strong finish here last year has me hoping this is the week he resurfaces. I also like Sean O’Hair who’s game seems to be on the rise as of late, with two solid showings the past two weeks. His putter is starting to get hot, and he also finished T12 here last year.
Jason Day seems to be the popular choice here, given that he’s the returning champion, plus he’s having a fantastic season thus far. Last week wasn’t so hot, but it’s hard to overlook five top 10s this season, with two back-to-back the week before last.
Starting Foursome: Nick Watney, Jeff Overton, Sean O’Hair, Jason Day
Bench Players: Rory Sabbatini, Spencer Levin, John Senden, Jason Dufner
My Year-to-Date Stats are:
Current Points: 2952
Points Last Week: 174
Current Percentile: 96th

Top 5s picked so far: 18
