The Claim
There are three things I have heard many golfers complain about: a bad back, ball marks on the greens and poor putting. The Double Duty, Divot Repair Putter claims that it has a cure for all three. The patent pending center shafted putter features a divot tool fixed to the back of the putter and comes in standard, belly and long putter lengths. Let’s see how golfers with these three symptoms made out with the Double Duty!
The Test
I had golfers of various skill levels whose weakness is putting, complain about people not fixing ball marks (they aren’t to good at it themselves) and have sore backs due to operations, old age etc. All of the golfers putted from different lengths on the putting green and then took it into competition. I even tried the standard length center shaft myself…
The Verdict
It turns out that this unique and clever design does fill a niche in the putter industry after all. All of the players that tried the long putter made more short putts and lagged putts closer stating that they liked the weight of the putter and that it was easy to line up using the divot tool as their guide. Every golfer I spoke with was surprised how many more ball marks they fixed on the course because they saw a reminder every time they had a putter in their hand and realized that the putter enforces the proper fixing of a mark as you can not pull up a ball mark as most golfers do not do. Finally, when asked if their backs felt less stress after a round of golf? The most common answer was; Let’s go play another 18! I would recommend this putter to any golfer that has these “golf symptoms.” Your handicap, your back and your greens super intendent will thank you for it.
