The Claim: There are many training aids on the market that help improve the fundamentals involved in the golf swing. The Pin High Pro, invented by Carl Papa, claims to improve accuracy, trajectory and distance by helping a golfer finish on their through side (left side for righties and vice versa).
The Test: The Pin High Pro is completely portable and can be used indoors or out. Once the aid was positioned on the ground I tested the aid for different types of shots from a full shot to a chip.
Full Swing: As I hit balls using various clubs in my bag I found that my body rhythm became more consistent. My weight shifted to my through leg at the exact time of impact producing a beep at impact that remained constant to finish. Accuracy, trajectory, and distance all improved.
Pitching: I practiced a combination of low, mid, and high trajectory pitches focusing on constant weight on my through side for a low trajectory, relaxed weight transfer for a mid trajectory and early weight shift to my through side for a high trajectory. The beeps were consistent with trajectory and my distance control improved immensely.
Chipping: I placed all my weight on my through side and the beep remained constant the entire motion producing proper bump n’ run shots. My landing spot, ball spin and finish position were all very similar.
The Verdict: After testing the Pin High Pro I found that the simple sound of a “beep” worked just as promised to improve my weight distribution. The Pin High Pro is for real. After training on the aid personally I would highly recommend the Pin High Pro to any golfer with weight transfer and/or over the top flaws!
