Another Top Ten finish for Renner

Jeff Sinkiewicz New England Golf Monthly Writer By: Jeff Sinkiewicz on 12/10/09 05:46 PM

With Hampshire struggling, Patrick Nagel (-8)saw an opportunity after doing one better than his playing partner with 9 pars on the front side. Nagel turned up the heat on the flustered leader by making birdies on 10,12 and 17 as he carded a three-under 69. Nagel overcame 4 of the 7 shot deficit he faced but came up short finishing in second place. David Suggs finished third after carding today's low round of 68.

Yesterday I referred to Plainville's Jim Renner as Mr.Smoothie and once again he delivered with 4 birdies and a bogey as he carded a 69(-3) today. Once again, Renner finished in the top ten (9th) and he improved his status on the money list , moving up to 14th. Michael Welch (+1) had another strong showing as well finishing tied for 21st, keeping him in the top ten on the money list at 8th. Jesse Smith(+2) missed the cut in all three events this winter and on the fourth attempt, the NH resident finished tied for 26th. The 13th hole got the best of Smith today as well where he made a double bogey.

New Englanders that missed the cut this week were Matt Parziale, Jon Curran, and John Elliot. You can read my round by round coverage at Sink the Putts.
