Renner Captures Second Title

Renner entered Sundays final round tied for 6th, just three shots behind the three co-leaders of Devlin, Miller and Brehm with a big task at hand. Up for the challenge, Renner came out of the chute on fire by making birdie on the first five holes. After almost making birdie on six, Jim went on and made his 6th birdie in seven holes. Renner carded a 6-under 30 as he headed to the shack.
“I knew guys were going to shoot some low scores today with no wind and extremely soft greens due to all the rain we got over the last three days,” said the twenty-six year old Renner. “I didn’t really have a number in my head of what I needed to shoot but I knew I needed five or six to get close and I was able to do that in my first seven holes.”
Renner only made three mistakes all week by making a bogey on 12 in round one, a triple bogey on the first hole in round two and a bogey on the tenth hole in Sunday's round. Jim overcame his only blemish on the card by making an eagle 3 on the par 5, 11th hole. After banging out four straight pars, Renner solidified his victory with a birdie on the 16th hole which put him 8-under for the day and 15-under for the week (69-68-64). Miller was nipping at Renner's heals all day but came up one shot short of the Massachusetts native as Jim moves into fourth on the money list with his $30,000 first place prize.
