SMITHFIELD, R.I. – One of the top amateur golfers in New England, Charlie Blanchard has been named the new head coach of the Bryant University men’s golf program. Blanchard becomes just the second coach in program history, taking over for Archie Boulet, who retired following the 2010-11 season after a remarkable 47- year career.
“We are very excited to name Charlie as the next head coach of the Bryant University men’s golf program,” said Director of Athletics Bill Smith. “He brings a tremendous amount of experience to our already well-respected program.” A familiar face on the local golf circuit, Blanchard brings a decorated résumé to the Bryant program with six Rhode Island Golf Association Player of the Year Awards on his very impressive resume that also includes USGA Championships. “I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as the head coach of the Bryant University men’s golf team,” said Blanchard. “It is truly an honor to take over such a successful and highly respected program built by Archie. Those are some big shoes to fill, but it is my goal to continue that success that Bryant golf has enjoyed over its history and become the best in the conference and region.” Follow the Bryant Bulldogs season at: bryantbulldogs.com
