Brad Adamonis is back while Tim Petrovic keeps hanging around the top of the leaderboard

Brad Adamonis has been on a roller coaster ride for the last 8 or 9 months but he has never given up his desire to compete.

This week Brad decided to go ahead and play in the Travelers Championship even though he has missing cuts on the two events entered this season on the PGA Tour.  Even his play on the Nationwide Tour has been spotty with only 3 missed cuts in 8 events so far in 2010.

Brad Adamonis is not finished playing competitive golf.  Not by a long shot!

His making the cut in the Travelers is HUGE for this Cumberland, RI native who has so much potential and talent.

When, at any level of play,  the mind becomes too cluttered with issues unrelated to the game it is hard to stay focused.  You might think at the Tour level, a player would and ’should’ have the ability to focus and tune everything out.  I can tell you from my years working with better players, often ‘outside’ issues make focusing on your game all that much harder.

I am by no means minimizing issues that go on in life and their impact on an individual.  These issues, in fact, are often catastrophic be they emotional or physical.  The test is to be able to work through them.

Golf history is rife with such examples both physical and emotional setbacks.  I can tell you, from personal experience, often times the player is stronger once they put their set backs in perspective.  That takes patience and time.

Congratulations Brad.  Good to see you back in the hunt.

Another Team New England representative, Tim Petrovic, just keeps hanging around waiting to nail a tournament victory.  Through three rounds of the Travelers Championship Tim sits at -8 or 202 as Justin Rose sits at -16 or 194 after round 3.
