Bradley gets a reprieve in Player of the Year voting

Don’t count PGA champ Keegan Bradley out of the PGA Tour player of the year race just yet. While Luke Donald seemed to clinch the honors with his come-from-behind win at Disney on Sunday that earned him the money title as well, tour officials will give PoY voters another chance to assess Bradley’s season.

That’s because the tour will delay for two weeks sending out PoY ballots until after the HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, where Bradley will go for his third win of the year, according to the Associated Press’ Doug Ferguson. Should the New England native win in the Shanghai competiton that starts on November 3, he would enter the balloting with one more win for the year than Donald, money title runner-up Webb Simpson, and a handful of other golfers with two Ws.

Donald, who decided to play last week’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic because the money prize was at stake, was scheduled to play in Shanghai, although his participation would seem to depend on when his wife gives birth to the couple’s second child.

The World Golf Championship contest would count as an official PGA Tour event if a tour member were to emerge victorious, said Ferguson, who noted that voters will have until December 9 to return their ballots.
