Bubba Watson, who had some trouble negotiating his way around Atlanta Athletic Club on Thursday, is a big fan of “Burn Notice” star Jeffrey Donovan. The big-hitter from Bagdad, Fla., however, might want to think again before calling out the Boston boomer on his golf game.
“New Episode of Burn Notice is on in 20 mins, can’t wait!” Watson tweeted Thursday night. “@Jeffrey_Donovan is Awesome!!”
That would have been fine, except Bubba added a P.S. that did not escape the attention of Donovan, who’s been known to take his 7.6 handicap index (he plays out of Lagorce CC in Miami, Fla., according to PGATour.com) to celebrity pro-ams here and there. “#jeffcan‘tgolf,” Watson typed.
Donovan quickly tweeted his riposte, complete with video to prove his point: “@bubbawatson @Jeffrey_Donovan can’t golf…beg to differ; here’s proof pgatour.com/video/h/video/… TAKE THAT @bubbawatson !!!”

Donovan, by the way, can maneuver a 9-iron as well as his “Burn Notice” character, Michael Weston, can handle an assault rifle. The pride of Amesbury, Mass., was the winner of the 2010 Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tourney.
Watson, by the way, carded a 4-over 74 in the first round of this week’s PGA Championship and headed into Friday 11 strokes behind leader Steve Stricker.
