ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. – Scott Hawley of Shrewsbury, Mass., birdied five of his last eight holes Thursday at The Links at Madison Green and pulled away for a five under par 67 to win by two strokes on the Fuzion Minor League Golf Tour.
It was Hawley’s fourth MLGT victory since May, 2006, his first since May 18, 2009. After a birdie at the third hole and a bogey at the fifth, Hawley, 32, birdied Nos. 11, 12, 14, 15 and 16. He earned $825 from the $4,705 purse.
There were 38 starters for the MLGT’s 125th tournament this year. Three more events are scheduled this month: Monday, Jacaranda GC, Plantation; Nov. 29, Fountains CC, Lake Worth; and Nov. 30, Abacoa GC, Jupiter. For information and entry, go to www.minorleaguegolf.com.
