Scottsdale, AZ – Waste Management and the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau have
teamed up to create the Waste Management Scottsdale Open, a unique golf event for low-handicap players to be contested January 13-15, 2012 on three of the best public facilities in the State.
The Waste Management Scottsdale Open is a 2-person team event with players competing in either the gross or net division. The Waste Management Scottsdale Open is pure golf and pure Scottsdale. Competitors will play the three best facilities in the City. Round
one will be hosted by Troon North Monument, the flagship property of Troon Golf, described as an “Arizona Masterpiece”. Round two provides competitors with the “ultimate member-for-a-day” experience at the highly-rated Grayhawk Raptor course. The final competitive round will provide a true test as players compete on the TPC Stadium course in the same tournament conditions as the PGA TOUR players will compete during Waste Management Phoenix Open two weeks later.
“There are many amateur tournaments throughout the year, but none catering to a single-digit player who wants to compete in the same conditions as the pros do,” said Scottsdale CVB Vice President Brent DeRaad. “Troon and Grayhawk will definitely be challenging, but the TPC Stadium course, with the forecaddies, the grandstands in place, the rough grown, the greens double cut and rolled to perfection, will be the ultimate skills test.”
“The concept of playing the best right before the best come to play really complements our efforts at the Waste Management Phoenix Open,” commented Steve Neff. “It allows us to increase our partnership with the City of Scottsdale while continuing to expand the charitable contributions generated for Arizona.”
The cost to enter the tournament is $895 per player and includes three competitive rounds of golf, a gift package, pairings party and awards ceremony. Prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in each division. Additional information and registration is available at www.scottsdaleopengolf.com.
