January 18 — Yes! Golf will hit the auction block Tuesday afternoon.
Bidding for the manufacturer of Jim Furyk’s favorite $39 putter will start at 3 pm. (EST), with the webcast auction slated to last for an hour, according to Heritage Global Partners, which will run the online sale.
The Denver-based manufacturer of the highly touted C-Groove putter filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in December after three years of losses that culminated in $1.3 million of red ink in 2010, according to Golf Digest. The company enjoyed a brief rush of fading glory after Furyk employed a used Yes! Sophia flat stick on his way to capturing the 2010 Tour Championship and FedEx Cup titles. Between rounds of last year’s Deutsche Bank Championship outside Boston, Furyk picked up the putter for a song at Joe & Leigh’s Discount Golf Pro Shop in nearby South Easton, Mass.
The company owed more than $668,000 to secured creditors and some $2 million to more than 200 unsecured creditors at the time of its bankruptcy filing, Golf Digest said.
